Hampden-Sydney Runs Third At EMU Mennonite Heritage Cross Country Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Freshman Justin Stimpson/Farmville ran a 5K time of 19:06, and classmate Ryan Haynie/Richmond posted a time of 19:13, to lead Hampden-Sydney College to 64 points on Friday evening and a third-place finish at the EMU Mennonite Heritage Cross Country Invitational in Harrisonburg.  Host Eastern Mennonite University won the team race with its 16 points, while EMU's Isaac Alderfer finished first individually with a time of 16:44.

Stimpson finished 11th overall among the 31 runners, while Haynie was next at 12th overall.  Also running and finishing for H-SC were sophomore Bennett Diggs/West Point (19:53, 18th), senior John Dyke/Keswick (20:02, 20th), sophomore David Lowman/Staunton (20:04, 21st), freshman Taisho Miller/Virginia Beach (20:25, 22nd) and senior Thomas Gorman/Naples, Fla. (20:48, 23rd).  Each of the respective Tigers posted faster times than last week. 

EMU was followed by St. Mary's (Md.) College (60), H-SC and Mary Baldwin University (110).

The Tigers will race again next Saturday, September 14, at 9:30 a.m. at the 8K ODAC Preview hosted by Roanoke College in Salem.
