HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College split a pair of men's tennis matches on Saturday at the H-SC Tennis Courts, defeating Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) member Shenandoah University 9-0, after dropping a 7-0 decision to NCAA Division I Longwood University. The host Tigers are now 4-8 overall, 3-0 in the ODAC, while the visiting Hornets dropped to 1-5 overall, 0-4 in the ODAC, and the visiting Lancers improved to 9-5.
Against SU in doubles, junior brothers Matthew Moody/Raleigh, N.C. and Michael Moody/Raleigh, N.C. won at No. 1, 8-0. Junior Grayson Burns/Waynesboro and sophomore William Driskill/Middleburg won at No. 2, 8-1. Junior Clark Cummings/Norfolk and freshman Tyler Brice/Rocky Mount, N.C. won at No. 3, 8-0.
In singles against the Hornets, Matthew Moody won at No. 1 by scores of 6-3, 6-3. Michael Moody won at No. 2 by scores of 6-0, 6-1. Driskill won at No. 3 by scores of 6-0, 6-1. Burns won at No. 4 by scores of 6-1, 6-2. Brice won at No. 5 by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Cummings won at No. 6 by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Against LU in doubles, Matthew Moody and Michael Moody fell at No. 1, 2-6. Driskill and Burns fell at No. 2, 3-6. Brice and Cummings fell at No. 3, 1-6.
In singles against the Lancers, Matthew Moody fell at No. 1 by scores of 4-6, 2-6. Michael Moody fell at No. 2 by scores of 0-6, 2-6. Driskill fell at No. 3 by scores of 1-6, 2-6.
