ORLANDO, Fla. -- Hampden-Sydney College dropped a 7-0 non-conference tennis decision to NCAA Division II Rockhurst (Mo.) University on Friday in Orlando, Florida. The Tigers completed their Spring Break trip with the match against the Hawks, and are now 2-6 overall, remaining 1-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
RU (8-4) swept the three matches in doubles for the team point, before taking all six matches in singles, as well. In doubles, junior Matthew Moody/Raleigh, N.C. and sophomore William Driskill/Middleburg fell at No. 1, 1-6. Juniors Michael Moody/Raleigh, N.C. and Clark Cummings/Norfolk fell at No. 2, 6-7 (9). Freshman Alex Zorko/Heusenstamm, Germany and sophomore Andrew Donelson/McLean fell at No. 3, 2-6.
In singles, Matthew Moody fell at No. 1 by scores of 3-6, 2-6. Michael Moody fell at No. 2 by scores of 6-7 (2), 3-6. Driskill fell at No. 3 by scores of 2-6, 1-6. Freshman Tyler Brice/Rocky Mount, N.C. fell at No. 4 by scores of 0-6, 2-6. Cummings fell at No. 5 by scores of 0-6, 1-6. Donelson fell at No. 6 by scores of 2-6, 3-6.
H-SC will return to action on the road at Southern Virginia University on Monday, March 18, at 4 p.m. in Buena Vista.
