Jake O'Brien Named ODAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week For Second Time In Three Weeks

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney College sophomore Jake O'Brien/Scituate, Mass. has once-again been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the period February 18-24.   This is the second time in three weeks that O'Brien has garnered the conference honor, after previously being named player of the week for the period Feb. 4-10.

O'Brien, a second-year attack, led the Tigers to a 9-8 come-from-behind overtime road win at Catholic University on Feb. 19 in Washington, D.C., scoring the game-winning goal with 1:47 remaining in the extra period.  He finished with two goals and one assist against the Cardinals, adding four ground balls and one caused turnover.  O'Brien posted a team-best three goals, along with three ground balls, during a 12-9 setback at home to nationally-ranked No. 16 Christoper Newport University on Feb. 23 at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.  Through four games, Jake is leading the Tigers (3-1) in goals with 12, adding two assists for 14 points, second-best on the team, along with 11 ground balls (second-best) and the one caused turnover.

H-SC will welcome non-conference opponent and nationally-ranked No. 7 Cabrini (Pa.) University on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 4 p.m. at Hellmuth-Gibson Field.
