HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. -- The Hampden-Sydney College golf team has moved up two spots to 12th in the latest Golfstat NCAA Division III Top 25, while up to sixth in the extremely strong South Region. In addition, five Tigers are ranked highly among the national individual rankings, including freshman John Hatcher Ferguson/Rocky Mount, who is ranked 47th in Division III and 22nd in the South Region with his 73.65 scoring average.
Other top H-SC golfers ranked nationally include junior Bruce Shober/Appomattox (73.41), who is 50th in DIII and 20th in the region; classmate Adam Hade/Richmond (74.65), who is 108th in DIII and 45th in the region; as well as sophomore Allen Smith/Durham, N.C. (74.94), who is 140th in DIII and 51st in the region.
H-SC, coached by Director of Athletics Chad Eisele, has earned six Top 10 team finishes in seven tournaments this year. The Tigers are averaging 294.76 per round, 16th-best in Division III and sixth-best in the South Region.
H-SC will play again in the 54-hole Camp Lejeune Invitational on April 5-7 at the Paradise Point Golf Course in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
