George Earns Second Team All-Region Honors

MINNEAPOLIS, MN-Junior forward Harrison George (Raleigh, NC/Leesville) was recently named to the All-South Region Second Team after helping lead the Tigers to a 19-8 record and 11-5 mark in the conference. The honor is the second for George, who earned Second Team honors as a sophomore. The Tigers' 11th all-time leading scorer with 1,335 points to his is also a three-time All-ODAC honoree twice making the First Team as well as the 2010 ODAC and VaSID Rookie of the Year.

This season, George led the Tigers and was third in the ODAC in scoring at 16.7 points-per-game while his 57.5% accuracy was fourth best in the league. The junior was also in the top-ten in the league with 6.1 rebounds-per-game (10th), 2.6 assists-per-game (8th), 1.9 steals-per-game (10th), 0.9 blocks-per-game (8th), and 4.5 defensive rebounds-per-game (8th).

George was often hard to stop, scoring 20 points this season 11 times and hitting the ten point mark in 20 of his 27 appearances. He also snared at least five rebounds 17 times, and notched four double-doubles, upping his career mark to 17. The Raleigh native scored a season-high 28 points three times, including back-to-back games against Roanoke and Lynchburg. He also tied his career-high mark of seven assists against Emory & Henry, and set a new career-high for thefts with eight steals against Pittsburgh-Greensburg.

Matt Addison, a senior guard from Hardin-Simmons, earned South Region Player of the Year honors, and Piedmont's Jessie Jenkins was named the Rookie of the Year. The Coach of the Year was Birmingham-Southern's Chris Graves.

Also representing the ODAC were Virginia Wesleyan's D.J. Woodmore who earned First Team honors as well as Randolph's Colton Hunt who joined George on the Second Team.
