Fourth Seeded Tigers to Face Fifth Seeded Lynchburg in ODAC Tournament

FOREST, VA-With the conclusion of the 2011-12 basketball regular season, the seeds have been determined and pairings set. The Tigers, at 18-7 overall and 11-5 in the ODAC, are the fourth seed and receive a first round bye while looking for its league-record 11th ODAC title. Facing the Tigers in the quarterfinals will be the fifth seeded Hornets of Lynchburg College who finish the regular season at 15-10 overall and 9-7 in the ODAC.

The bulk of the Tournament action will take place at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia from Friday, February 24 to Sunday, February 26. The Tigers and Hornets will clash on Friday at 3:00 pm.

Virginia Wesleyan (22-3, 14-2) finished its ODAC regular season with a pair of victories on the final weekend to lock up the top seed. Randolph-Macon (20-5, 12-4) will play as the second seed, and third seeded Guilford College, at 17-8 overall and 11-5 in the ODAC, will round out the top five seeds that earn an automatic trip to the Salem Civic Center for the Quarterfinals.

Randolph College (12-13, 7-9), Eastern Mennonite University (11-14, 6-10), and Emory & Henry College (12-13, 6-10) will each host contests in the first round on Tuesday, February 21. The WildCats earned the sixth seed outright, but it came down to the ODAC's second step of tie-breakers to separate EMU and E&H. The Royals occupy the seventh position while the Wasps enter the field as the eighth seed. Washington & Lee University (12-13, 5-11) will travel to E&H as the ninth seed. Tenth-seeded Bridgewater College (7-18, 4-12) will make the quick jog to EMU for its first round match up. Roanoke College (7-18, 3-13) will head an hour east to Randolph as the 11th seed. 

Tournament play begins on Tuesday, February 21 with three first round contests. The three winners will join the top five seeds at the Salem Civic Center for the quarterfinals on Friday, February 24. The semifinals follow on Saturday, February 25, with the two winners playing for the ODAC crown on Sunday, February 26.
