FOREST, VA-Hampden-Sydney forward Harrison George (Raleigh, NC/Leesville) was named the ODAC Player of the Week for his work in the Tigers' three games this past week. While helping Hampden-Sydney to a 2-1 record, including a sweep of the South Region Hoops Challenge, the sophomore averaged 20.3 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Against Division I opponent Elon, George was second on the team in scoring with nine points and five rebounds. In the Tigers' 87-78 win over Shenandoah, George was again second on the team in scoring with 18 points, while his 12 rebounds gave him his second double-double of the season. His 18 points came on 7-12 shooting, and 2-3 accuracy from beyond the arc.
His best game, however, came in the 99-85 win over North Carolina Wesleyan. He set a new career-high for himself with 34 points and six rebounds. He did so efficiently too, connecting on 12 of his 15 field goal attempts.
Through five games, George is leading the team in both points (21.8 ppg) and rebounds (8.6 rpg) while doing so with 61.8% accuracy (42-68).
George and the Tigers return to action this Wednesday, as they travel to face ODAC-foe #3 Eastern Mennonite University. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
