FOREST, VA-For the second time this season, senior quarterback Alec Cobb (Jamestown, NC/Ragsdale) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week.
Cobb put together his second five-plus touchdown day in the last three weeks in the Tigers 42-21 victory at Bridgewater. Cobb threw four touchdown passes and ran in a fifth to offset one interception. He went 28-of-42 passing for 352 yards while completing passes to six different receivers. Cobb posted the game's first touchdown midway through the first quarter as he dove the pylon following a 14-yard scamper to the end zone. He used his legs on his first TD pass as well, rolling out to his left and throwing against his body to Nick Kallivokas (Purcellville, VA/Loudoun Valley) for a 12-yard score with 9:14 on the third quarter clock. Then came three long TD passes as he and Ed Newman (Farmville, VA/Fuqua) connected catch-and-run plays of 37 and 68 yards followed by a 26-yard scoring pass.
For the season, Cobb leads the ODAC in completion percentage (66.3%) and yards per game (409.0). He's second in yards (2,045), touchdowns (13), completions (163), attempts (246), and passing efficiency (148.7).
Cobb and the Tigers will return to action Saturday, October 20 as they host the Quakers of Guilford College. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM.
