HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-The Hampden-Sydney football team will return home to host the Hornets of Shenandoah University on Saturday, October 24 as part of Homecoming weekend. Saturday will mark the fourth meeting between the two teams and just the second time Shenandoah has travelled to Everett Stadium. In the only meeting at Hampden-Sydney, Shenandoah upset the 2013 ODAC Champions with a 36-35 win, but the Tigers have taken both meetings in Winchester with wins of 45-27 (2014) and 42-21 (2012).
Both teams are coming off of wins - the Tigers a thrilling 31-28 comeback win over Emory & Henry, and the Hornets a 34-17 victory over Catholic. Hampden-Sydney overcame a 21 point deficit to claim the win, and in Shenandoah's win, linebacker Michael Messick was named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week after registering a Hornet record 24 tackles - including 13 solo stops.
The Tigers are entering the final four game stretch of the season with back-to-back home games against Shenandoah and Bridgewater. The team will then hit the road for a tough road stretch of Guilford (11/7) and arch-rival Randolph-Macon (11/14) to close out the regular season.
