HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-This Saturday, Hampden-Sydney will travel to Danville, Kentucky to face #25 Centre College in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Football Championship. While this marks the fourth post season appearance for the Tigers since 2007, Centre is making its first appearance since 1921. The two teams have yet to meet under head coach Marty Favret, but overall Hampden-Sydney holds a 15-5-1 advantage of the Colonels in a series that began in 1948 - a 31-19 win for the Tigers under Morgan Tiller.
This season, the Tigers and Colonels have had one common opponent in Washington & Lee - both teams secured a 42-35 victory. Centre is coming off a solid regular season, in which it only lost to SCAC Champion Trinity. The Tigers have two losses on the season, but received an automatic bid with their ODAC Championship.
Centre will charge admission to the game which will be $8 for adults and $4 for children. Tickets will be sold on Thursday and Friday during the hours of 10-12 and 2-4 PM in Sutcliffe in the Athletic Office suite. Tickets will also be sold on the day of the game beginning at 10:30 AM.
