Lane Earns Preseason All-American Honors

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-Senior quarterback Travis Lane (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) has just been selected as an Honorable Mention Preseason All-American by Beyond Sports Network (BSN). Recently, he earned the same accolades by the Consensus Draft Services (CDS).

Lane, a 2011 captain, returns to lead the Tigers after a successful first year as starting play called in 2010. Last season, he passed for 3,338 yards, 28 touchdowns and 18 interceptions on 272-of-420 accuracy (64.8%) in 11 games. Lane's 3,338 passing yards is the fourth highest single season total in school history. Last season, he also scored three rushing touchdowns on 131 net rushing yards. The junior led the ODAC in passing yards (the second-highest passer was over 1,000 yards below Lane), touchdowns (28), completions (272), yards-per-game (303.5 ypg), and total offense (315.4 ypg).

The Tigers, returning from a 9-1 regular season while reaching the NCAA Playoffs for the second consecutive year, were picked second in the ODAC Preseason Poll. They will kick off the season on September 3 as they host the Cougars of Averett University.
