HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-This week, Hampden-Sydney will wrap up its six game road stint with a Thursday night meeting with the Panthers of Ferrum College (14-8, 3-3 USA South) before returning home for a Saturday ODAC double header against Washington & Lee (10-9, 4-2 ODAC). Thursday at Ferrum: The Tigers will travel to Panther Field to face Ferrum for the second time this season and first time on the road. The Tigers took a 5-3 victory at Ty Cobb Ballpark on opening day. Ferrum, 14-8 overall, is 6-3 against ODAC teams with all three losses coming on the road (Hampden-Sydney, Lynchburg, and Guilford). They snapped a three-game losing streak with a 7-6 win over third ranked Christopher Newport. Offensively, the Panthers are batting .274 as a team and are led by Wes Walker (.373, 31 hits, 15 runs) and Paul Jaglowski (.341, 30 hits, 14 RBI, 13 runs). The pitching staff boasts a 3.80 ERA with Tyler Easterly holding a team-high three wins. Chris Walker has also been a solid starter, with a 2-2 record and team-low 2.44 ERA in nine appearances.
Saturday vs. Washington & Lee: Hampden-Sydney will return home and continue the heart of its ODAC schedule. The Generals are currently in a three-way tie for second place in the ODAC at 4-2. Washington & Lee had won five straight games before falling 18-4 to Tufts on Sunday. Before they travel to Hampden-Sydney, the Generals, led by Jonathan Stutts (.419, 31 hits, 15 runs, 14 RBI), will face #18 Bridgewater and Averett. The General pitchers are allowing 3.52 earned runs-per-game with three pitchers posting at least two wins.
