BUENA VISTA, VA - The Hampden-Sydney cross country team travelled to Southern Virginia University Saturday morning to participate in what is now a dying breed: a dual meet. H-SC defeated the host team and owned four of the top six attached runners.
Andrew Stoddard (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) won his first collegiate meet, completing the 5K course in 19:54. Yonathan Tarekegne-Ararso (Addis Adaba/Ethiopia) took third at 20:21 while Andrew Craver (East Bend, NC/Forbush) was fourth with a time of 20:47. Henry Loehr (Free Union, VA/Western Albemarle) took seventh overall, sixth amongst attached runner, as he crossed the finish line in 22:02. Ned Belliveau (Lexington, VA/Rockbridge County) rounded out the top-five as he trekked the course in a time of 26:11, good for 10th overall place.
Hampden-Sydney returns to the course next Saturday as they go to Lexington, VA, to participate in the Washington & Lee Invitational.
