BEDFORD, VA - The cross country team opened their season at the Hornet Challenge, located in Bedford, VA, at the Claytor Nature Center - this year's location for the ODAC Championship. Andrew Stoddard (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) stole the show for the Tigers, finishing in second place with a time of 28:08.
Stoddard's time is a career best and marks the fastest time by a Tiger athlete in over a whole season, eclipsing his own time of 28:22 from a year ago. Andrew Craver (East Bend, NC/Forbush) came in 12th amongst the collegiate runners in 28:51. Ned Belliveau (Lexington, VA/Rockbridge County) paced the course in 35:45, David Barrett (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy) crossed the finish line at 36:20, and Brett Crocker (Troutville, VA/Lord Botetourt) recorded a time of 36:37 to round out the Tigers five runners. The Tigers finish fifth out of sixth as a team, beating out ODAC foe Emory & Henry.
The Tigers will have just one day off before traveling to Southern Virginia University on Saturday.
