Matthew Moody went a combined 6-0 at #1 singles and doubles in a 3-0 week for the Tigers, who needed to win all three matches to clinch the #3 seed in the ODAC Tournament.
On Thursday vs. Bridgewater, he defeated Joe Dillenbeck 7-6 (3), 6-4 and teamed with his brother, Michael Moody, to top Dillenbeck and Josh Rodgers 8-4, an All-ODAC doubles from 2017. He played a part in handing Virginia Wesleyan only their second ODAC defeat of the year, and in a convincing 8-1 fashion. He nearly swept 2017 All-ODAC player Paul Gladstone, defeating him 6-0, 6-1, and then topped Mitchell Perry and Nick Gunter 8-4 in doubles action. He rounded out the week with another 2-0 mark against Shenandoah, emerging victorious by scores of 6-1, 6-0 in singles and 8-2 in doubles.
Matthew is 15-4 in dual matches in singles play with an 8-2 ODAC mark. His two ODAC losses needed three sets and/or a tiebreaker in at least one set, one of which came against the #5 regionally ranked player. Teaming with his twin brother Michael, he is 18-1 in dual matches at #1 doubles while going 9-1 in ODAC competition. The lone doubles loss is against the #8 regionally ranked duo.
