Tiger Soccer to Host Washington & Lee for Family Weekend

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - The Hampden-Sydney Soccer team hosts the Washington & Lee University Generals this Saturday at 3 pm as part of Family Weekend.

The Tigers are coming off a big 1-0 win over archrival RandolphRandolph-Macon on Wednesday. The win avoided the Tigers from starting out in a tough 0-2 hole in ODAC competition. The Tigers played one of their best all-around games of the season, thoroughly dominating the Yellow Jackets from beginning to end. The Yellow Jackets were limited to a measly three shots and only two corner kicks. Nick DeProspero (Midlothian, VA / Cosby) helped set up the game-winning score off a throw-in to Chris Whiteside (Virginia Beach, VA / Frank W. Cox) who then passed it to James Lawrence (Midlothian, VA / Midlothian) to finish off the goal.

Washington & Lee - 4-2 overall, 1-1 ODAC
Washington & Lee has proven to be one of the top offensive and defensive units in the ODAC this year, allowing a league-low six goals while also scoring a league-tying high 13 goals. Their key wins include a 2-1 overtime victory over Stevenson ina  3-0 blanking of Virginia Wesleyan. Their ODAC loss was a 2-1 decision at Guilford.

While the Generals have scored 13 goals, Zach Colby has done a large majority of the damage as he leads the ODAC with 16 points on eight goals. Colby did most of his goal scoring antics in the first week of the season, posting two scores against Moravian and three against Bethany (WV) to earn ODAC Player of the Week. He most recently found the back of the net twice against Virginia Wesleyan.
