Ferrum Topples Soccer 2-0

FERRUM, VA - Ferrum used a goal in each half to topple Hampden-Sydney Soccer 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Hampden-Sydney got several opportunities early, including one shot hitting the post, but Ferrum goalkeeper Justin Robinson kept the Tigers at bay. Jae White put the Panthers on board in the 30th minute off a Paul Maithya pass. The Panther defense held the Tigers to no shots the remainder of the first half.

Aaron Gustine finished off an Asa Fox feed in the 53rd minute for the insurance score. H-SC got off a few more shots, but only two were on goal as the Panthers recorded the shutout.

Robinson finished with five saves. H-SC outshot Ferrum 12-9, held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal, and recorded a 9-3 edge in corner kicks. The Tigers were also whistled for six offsides calls.

Hampden-Sydney hosts Eastern Mennonite Saturday at 1 pm for each team's ODAC opener.
