HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - Alex Thexton (Midlothian, VA/Cosby) posted two second-half goals as the Tigers exploded for four goals to beat Ferrum College 4-0.
After a scoreless first-half, the Tigers came out aggressive and looking to attack on offense. It did not take long for the strategy to pay off as Thexton posted the game's first score just 2:25 into the contest. At the 56 minute mark, Nick DeProspero (Midlothian, VA/Cosby) delivered a perfectly placed crossing pass to Curran Blackwell (Wilson, NC/Greenfield) for a beautiful header goal. Nearly three minutes later, Thexton added his second goal off a Bo Burns (Raleigh, NC/Leesville Road) assist. Robert Stephens (Williamsburg, VA/Lafayette) closed out the scoring in the 70th minute with another Burns assist.
H-SC outshot Ferrum 23-8 including a 14-4 second-half advantage. Duncan Oliphant (Annapolis, MD/Annapolis) made three saves in net whilw Walter Romano made four for Ferrum.
Hampden-Sydney travels on Saturday to Washington & Lee University for a 1 p.m. ODAC contest.
