HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - Hampden-Sydney Lacrosse Head Coach Ray Rostan recently announced the hiring of Assistant Coach Tommy Costanza. Tommy will assist the Hampden-Sydney program at both ends of the field and will be a major asset in the recruiting of exceptional student-athletes.

Coach Costanza is a 2009 graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo, earning his degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Communication. A team captain, Tommy earned USILA All-American and Academic All-American honors as well as First Team All-SUNYAC honors in his senior year. Additionally, he was named to the SUNYAC All-Academic Team in 2008 and 2009. He wrapped up his collegiate career by setting the Geneseo single season goal record (52) and finishing as the third leading goal scorer in the history of the program.

Tommy has been coaching the past four years at Geneseo State followed by Wesley College (DE) where he completed his Master's degree in Business Administration. Tommy coached at Geneseo State for two years immediately after graduation, assisting Head Coach Jim Lyons, both on the field and in recruiting. At Geneseo State, he coached three All-Americans, including a Division III Goalkeeper of the Year. The past two years, Costanza was a graduate assistant coach for Head Coach Bill Gorrow at Wesley College where he was responsible for the team offense.

"We are very pleased to have been able to attract Tommy to Hampden-Sydney College," said Head Coach Ray Rostan. "Tommy has been mentored by great coaches going back to his high school playing experience at Webster Schroeder High School in Rochester, New York. He is a young coach with great determination and approaches his career with the same competitive spirit that he had as a student-athlete. We look forward to Coach Costanza working with our strong group of returning student-athletes."

The Tigers begin fall practices on September 22 and welcome back a strong core of returners at each position. The team will open its 2013 campaign at the University of Mary Washington on February 15.
