HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA - The Hampden-Sydney Lacrosse team scored the first four goals of the contest and never looked back in a 12-3 home win over Randolph College.

Ryan Martin (Midlothian, VA / Cosby) opened the scoring at the 12:34 mark off a James Hughes (Raleigh, NC / Middle Creek) assist, and Hughes followed with a goal courtesy of a Jess Hawthorne (Richmond, VA / Collegiate) pass at 9:21. Martin's second goal of the quarter was of the man-up variety as Thomas Armstrong (Charlotte, NC / Charlotte Latin) found him for the score at 7:05, then Corey Mavromatis (Virginia Beach, VA / Cape Henry) scored just 10 seconds later following a Jake Koferl (Huntersville, NC / Lake Norman) face-off win. Randolph's Ryan Blackwell ended the drought at 2:55, and Jon O'Hara added a score with just under nine seconds remaining in the quarter.

The Hampden-Sydney defense held the WildCats scoreless over the next two quarters as the Tigers scored five straight goals to go up 9-2 after three quarters. Randolph's Colton Wood scored less than two minutes into the fourth, but H-SC posted the last three goals of the game.

Hughes posted a career-high seven points on four goals and three assists. Mike Funk (Chantilly, VA / Middleburg) contributed three scores and three helpers, and Martin found the back of the net three times while assisting on two goals. Corey Mavromatis (Virginia Beach, VA / Cape Henry) posted a goal and an assist. Cameron Sheppard (Denver, CO / Kent Denver) forced four turnovers while Casey Bendall (Richmond, VA / St. Christopher's) and Austin Black (Dallas, TX / Plano) each had three caused turnovers.

Four different plays contributed a point for Randolph, and Cam Davis made 10 saves.

H-SC held advantages in ground balls (43-23), turnovers committed (19-30), face-offs (12-of-19), and shots (39-19). Randolph was held to a 1-for-6 performance on man-up while H-SC went 1-4.
