Lax Trio Earns All-State Honors

ASHLAND, VA-Hampden-Sydney recently had three lacrosse players earn All-State Honors as voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). Earning First Team honors was senior midfielder Carter Mavromatis (Virginia Beach, VA/Cape Henry). Senior attack Micah Keller (Richmond, VA/Christchurch) and senior defenseman Andrew Pritzlaff (Denver, CO/Kent Denver) each earned Second Team accolades.

Lynchburg's Joe Lisicky and Steve Koudelka were named Player and Coach of the Year, respectively, while Washington & Lee's Cameron Dabir was named the Rookie of the Year.

Mavromatis, an Honorable Mention All-American and First Team All-ODAC performer this season, capped off his stellar career by setting a new program record for career assists with 108. In 2012, he led the conference in assists with 38 and was fifth in points with 58, both tops in the league for midfielders. In ODAC only games, Mavromatis was second in assists (18) and third in points (30). He also ranked ninth in all of Division III in assists per game at 2.38.

Keller adds All-State to his already impressive list of accolades including two All-American and three All-ODAC nods. This past season, he posted 45 points on 37 goals and eight assists. His 45 points were eighth in the ODAC, and he ranked fifth in goals. Keller graduates fifth in school history for goals, 20th in assists, and sixth in points.

Pritzlaff, a three-time All-ODAC honoree, had 12 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls in 2012. The senior was often tasked with defending the opponent's top attackmen, and he was part of a successful man-down unit killing 74.4% of all opponents' man-up opportunities and 73.1% in ODAC competition.
