  • Golf Finishes Eighth in Wynlakes Intercollegiate

    The 27th-ranked Hampden-Sydney golf team finished eighth in the Wynlakes Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament was played at the Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama. The Tigers shot 27-over par in the event that featured seven teams in the top-25 and two teams in the top-5.

    The Hampden-Sydney golf team rose 22 spots in the most recent national rankings by Golfstat.com, leaping from 49th a week ago to currently standing at 27th nationally.
  • Golf Places 7th at Jekyll Island

    The Hampden-Sydney golf team jumped three spots in the final day of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational to finish seventh in the highly competitive 30-team field. The three-day tournament, played at Jekyll Island Golf Club’s Pine Lakes and Oleander courses, featured 14 teams in the national Top-25 and eight in the Top-Ten.

    The Hampden-Sydney golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the spring season, tying for 11th in the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate, played at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia.

  • Golf Plays in O'Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament

    The Hampden-Sydney golf team competed in the O’Briant-Jensen Memorial Tournament, placing 12th in the highly competitive field. As a team, the Tigers finished the two-day tournament at 45 over par. Methodist won the event at 12 over par, while Carnegie Mellon (+13) and Huntingdon (+15).
  • Golf Competes in VSGA Intercollegiate

    The Hampden-Sydney golf team had five players compete as individuals in the VSGA Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday. There were 101 golfers in the two-day event, and all five Tigers placed in the top-51.

    Hampden-Sydney College announced a pledge of $4 million from John W. "Bill" Kirk III '72 and his wife, Shireen, to support the endowment of the H-SC athletic program.

    The Hampden-Sydney golf team competed in the competitive Oglethorpe Invitational at Royal Lakes over the weekend, finishing 15th in the 18-team field.

    Freshman golfer Allen Smith has been named this week's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Golfer of the Week for his medalist performance in the Shenandoah Invitational last week. 
  • Tigers Win Shenandoah Invitational

    The Hampden-Sydney golf team won the Shenandoah Invitational and did so in convincing fashion, finishing 20 strokes ahead of the next closest team. As a team, the Tigers finished the two-round event at 12 over par, while Mary Washington and Bridgewater rounded out the top three, shooting 32 and 37 over par, respectively.
  • Golf Finishes Fourth in Tom Kinder Memorial Tournament

    The Hampden-Sydney golf team opened its fall season with a fourth-place finish in the Tom Kinder Memorial Golf Tournament, hosted by Bridgewater College. The 36-hole event, usually held over two days, was played in full on Monday to avoid incoming weather on Tuesday. As a team, the Tigers shot ten-over par in the 15 team field. Guilford won the event at an impressive 16-under par, while North Carolina Wesleyan (+4) and Ferrum (+8) rounded out the top three.
