Golf Earns Second Place Finish in Camp Lejuene Scarlet Division

RESULTS

JACKSONVILLE, NC-The Hampden-Sydney golf team took home second place honors in the Scarlet Division of the Camp Lejuene Invitational from March 15-17. The Tigers finished just one stroke behind Scarlet Division winner Averett University. Shorter University rounded out the top three, finishing three strokes behind the Tigers.

Freshman Thomas Cole (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage) was the Tigers' top finisher, shooting just four over par in the three-day competition for eighth place. Sophomore Trey Cully (Studley, VA/Hanover) placed tenth overall with rounds of 76, 68, and 76 (+6).

Placing 15th overall was Sean Gatz (Newport News, VA/Menchville) who shot nine over par with rounds of 76, 75, and 72. Sophomore George Whiting (Charlotte, NC/Myers Park) also tied for 15th shooting 78, 72, and 73.

Rounding out the Tigers' team was Drew Arnold (Chatham, VA/Chatham) who placed 30th while finishing 14 over par (80, 74, 74).

Hampden-Sydney will return to action in the Roanoke Invitational at the Roanoke Country Club in Salem, Virginia. The Invitational will start April 6.
