Tiger Golf Finishes Fourth in Virginia State Intercollegiate

RESULTS

DANVILLE, VA-The Hampden-Sydney golf team took a fourth place finish this past weekend in the VSGA Virginia State Intercollegiate. The host Averett University won the event at 25 over par while Bridgewater (+38) and RandolphRandolph-Macon (+42) finished second and third. The Tigers, at 45 over par, were just three strokes behind Randolph-Macon. The two-round event featured 11 teams and eight ODAC teams.

Sophomore Drew Arnold (Chatham, VA/Chatham) paced the Tigers with two rounds of 73 for 6th overall. Junior Rick O'Connell (Goochland, VA/Goochland) was just three strokes behind and tied for 11th.

Sophomore Trey Cully (Studley, VA/Hanover) tied for 21st with rounds of 79 and 74, and freshman Thomas Cole shot 84 and 78 to finish 37th.

Sophomore George Whiting (Charlotte, NC/Myers Park) was one stroke behind Cole to tie for 38th.

Virginia Wesleyan's John Dozier III won medalist honors after finishing three under par for the weekend.

Hampden-Sydney returns to action on October 6th as it competes in the Ted Keller Invitational in Glen Allen, VA.
