Tigers Post First Place Finish at Ted Keller Memorial
GLEN ALLEN, VA-The Tigers followed up a first place finish at the Hampden-Sydney Invitational with another first place finish at the Ted Keller Memorial. As a team, the Tigers were 25 over par with a 601 two day total. Franklin and Marshall came in second 28 strokes over at 604. Averett rounded out the top three with a 611 (+35).
Sophomore Rick O'Connell (Goochland, VA/Goochland) again paced the Tigers coming in second place via a 72 and a 74 (+2). Freshman Drew Arnold (Chatham, VA/Chatham) was just three stokes behind O'Connell, and his five over performance landed him a sixth place finish.
Senior Ronnie Fultz (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle) was three strokes behind Arnold, finishing tied for 11th place as his 74 and 78 placed him eight over par for the tourney. Junior Sean Gatz (Newport News, VA/Menchville) was the fourth Tiger to finish in the top-20. He tied for 19th place at ten over par, shooting rounds of 75 and 79. Freshman Trey Cully (Studley, VA/Hanover) was two strokes behind Gatz, and his 77 and 79 put him tied for 26th at 12 over par.
This is the second consecutive first place finish for the Tigers, who have yet to place any lower than third place this fall. They will return to action next weekend in Sandestin, Florida at Golfweek's Division III Invitational.
