FARMVILLE, VA-The Hampden-Sydney golf team competed in the Manor Intercollegiate hosted by Longwood University at the Manor in Farmville. The Tigers placed tenth, but they were the only non-Division I team in the tournament. The Pirates of Seton Hall shot an 880 to win the event, and Delaware (887) and Longwood (892) rounded out the top three.
The Tigers were paced by Forest Wilson (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) who placed 34th overall with a 234 overall score (76, 78, 80). Daniel Adams (Charlotte Court House, VA/Randolph-Henry) finished 50th overall as his round of 79, 85, and 83 gave him an overall score of 247.
Just two strokes behind Adams was Drew Smith (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) whose 249 (85, 85, 79) was good enough for 52nd place. Tying for 57th place shooting 262 were Brian Hickey (Purcellville, VA/Loudoun Valley) and Jack Johnston (Martinsville, VA/Carlisle).
Longwood finshed third with the help of medalist Dylan Jenson who tied a course-record of 63 strokes in the second round. Along with a 77 and 69, Jensen finished with a tournament-record 209.
The Tigers return to action April 22 as they compete in the ODAC Championship.
