Hamoden-Sydney got off to a quick start, leading 9-0 less than two minutes into the contest. While the Tiger offense was rolling throughout the contest, the defense was firing on all cylinders. Piedmont was held to just two points through the first eight minutes of the game as the Tigers led 23-2. Shortly after the 10-minute mark, the Lions got hot from three, making six shots from behind the arc over six minutes to cut the H-SC advantage to just 12, 41-29, at the 4:06 mark. Piedmont was held to just two more points the rest of the half as the Hampden-Sydney offense continued to pour in the points to take a 54-31 halftime lead.

The second-half proved to be much more of the same. The Tigers looked to be well on their way to 100+ points after leading 93-49 with 7:48 left, but Hampden-Sydney went cold from the field. H-SC got the ball back for one last possession with under 30 seconds to go. Mitch Owens (Williamsburg, VA / Walsingham) corralled an offensive rebound off a missed three pointer and made a layup to hit the 100-point plateau.

Harrison George (Raleigh, NC / Leesville Road) needed only 18 minutes to contribute a strong stat line of 24 points (11-17 FGs), nine rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Greg Lewis (Mechanicsville, VA / Hanover) was the only other Tiger in double-figures with 16 points as he made 6-8 shots and 4-5 from deep range. Leon Hargrove (Raleigh, NC / Middle Creek) stuffed the box score with six points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals, and one block.

Jessie Jenkins had a team-high 17 points, shooting 7-13 from the floor. Dylan Delaney contributed 14 points and four three pointers while Austin Thompson added 11 points and three trifectas.

Hampden-Sydney shot 52.5% (42-80) for the game while Piedmont was just 38.6% (22-57), and each team made ten three pointers. H-SC outrebounded PC 44-32 and forced 24 Lions turnovers compared to just 12 for the Tigers. Hampden-Sydney boasted a near 2:1 assist-to-turnover ratio, handing out 23 assists. The Tigers turned the turnovers into points, scoring 35 off the 24 Piedmont giveaways. H-SC dominated the paint, registering a 54-16 advantage in points in the paint. The Hampden-Sydney bench contributed another 40-point effort with 42 points.

Hampden-Sydney travels to Winchester, VA, on Wednesday to play first-year ODAC foe Shenandoah University at 7 pm.
