HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – Hampden-Sydney Basketball Head Coach Dee Vick recently revealed the 2013-13 Basketball schedule. The schedule features 12 home games including the annual Christmas tournament – the Bojangles Holiday Challenege.
The season gets underway on the road at Washington College in Maryland on Saturday, November 17, at 2 pm. The Tigers then get in to games down in Rocky Mount, NC, prior to Thanksgiving break in the annual South Region Challenge. H-SC will play Mary Washington on November 20 and host North Carolina Wesleyan on the 21st.
The Tigers have their home and ODAC opener on November 24 with a home contest against the Wasps of Emory & Henry College at 2 pm. Hampden-Sydney welcomes NAIA foe Marygrove out of Detroit, MI, for Santa Night on December 20. The Tigers return to Fleet for the Bojangles Holiday Challenge from Dec. 29-30. This year's field includes Johns Hopkins, Huntingdon, and ODAC for Randolph College. The Tigers will play Johns Hopkins on the 29th and Huntingdon on the 30th.
The Tigers first game against archrival Randolph-Macon takes place on the first day on spring semester classes on January 16 at 7 pm while the game in Ashland is February 6. H-SC closes out their home slate against Virginia Wesleyan on February 13 and finish the regular season on the road at Emory & Henry on February 16.
"The schedule is full of challenging games both on the road and at home. This schedule will test our team and hopefully prepare us for post-season play. The past has shown that teams who fare well in our conference will be prepared for national competition. It is once again our goal to compete for the regular season championship which will give us great seeding for the conference tournament. We are hungry to win our 11th ODAC championship!"
