HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-After leading the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in scoring, sophomore forward and First Team All-ODAC selection Harrison George (Raleigh, NC/Leesville) was just named to the All-South Region team according to d3hoops.com. George was one of four ODAC players to earn a spot on one of the three South Region teams.
George, the 2010 ODAC Rookie of the Year and 2011 First Team selection, took the league by storm with a conference-leading 20.0 points-per-game. He also snared 8.0 rebounds-per-game, which were second only to Rick Maloney of Bridgewater's 8.4 mark. George also led the team and was fourth in the conference in field goal percentage connecting on 188 of his 325 attempts (56.1%).
The sophomore sensation posted nine double-doubles including a stretch of four consecutive double-digit scoring and rebounding. George managed to score in double figures in 25 of his 26 games while pouring in at least 20 on 15 occasions.
Ferrum's Derrick Mitchell took home Player of the Year honors, while Virginia Wesleyan's D.J. Woodmore - the ODAC Rookie of the Year - was named the Region's Rookie of the Year. Mitch Cole, head coach of Birmingham-Southern, was tabbed the Coach of the Year.
