Former Tiger All-Americans to Coach in VSHL State Championships

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-Hampden-Sydney football will be well represented this weekend in the Virginia State High School (VHSL) State Championship games as two former All-Americans will be on the sidelines trying to guide their teams to victories this Saturday.

2001 graduate and 2011 Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Woody has his Brookville Bees standing at 13-0 and one win away from back-to-back state championships. The Bees, in Division Three, will be facing James Monroe (12-1) at noon at Liberty University. Woody was a two-time team captain for the Tigers and set several school records for wide receivers upon graduation.

In the Division Six Championship, 2003 graduate Chris Scott will be coaching the Dolphins of Ocean Lakes (14-0) against L.C. Bird (13-0) at 4:00 pm at the University of Virginia. Scott was a two-time All-American defensive back for the Tigers, and his record of 20 career interceptions still stands.

All state championship games will be webcast free of charge. For more information about the VHSL and the upcoming games, click here.
