Duo of Football Tigers Earn Preseason All-America Accolades

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-As anticipation builds for the 2012 football season, two Tigers earned Preseason All-America honors. Junior cornerback Zach Morgan (Virginia Beach, VA/Ocean Lakes) was named to the Second Team by and Beyond Sports Network (BSN). On the other side of the ball, junior offensive lineman Will Ferrell (Blythewood, SC/Blythewood) was named to BSN's First Team.

Morgan, a 2011 Third Team All-American, returns for his third season after leading the ODAC with nine interceptions as a sophomore. He ranked 11th in the league with 67 tackles, including 52 solo stops - second in the conference. He also broke up an ODAC second best seven passes. Along with his All-America recognition, Morgan was a First Team All-Region, All-State and All-ODAC selection.

Ferrell has consistently been one of the top linemen on the Tiger roster the last two seasons while earning First Team All-ODAC and Second Team All-State honors as a sophomore in 2011. Last season, the left tackle helped the Tigers lead the ODAC in scoring offense (42.0 ppg) and pass offense (334.0 pypg). The Tigers were also second in total offense (474.5) and fourth in rushing offense (140.5 rypg). Nationally, Hampden-Sydney was third in passing offense and 11th in total offense.
