Lane Named ODAC Offensive Player of the Week
FOREST, VA-Senior quarterback Travis Lane (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week after helping the Tigers clinch the 2011 ODAC Championship with a 42-35 win over Washington & Lee University.
Lane controlled the offensive tempo and led the Tigers to 42 points and 446 yards of total offense. He also did not turn the ball over for the second consecutive game. On the day, he was 21-of-33 for 331 yards and four touchdowns. He started the game going 3-for-5 for 57 yards and a 29-yard touchdown pass on the Tigers' first drive. On the next scoring drive, he was a perfect 3-for-3 throwing for 75 yards, including a 42-yard strike to Sean Cavanagh. In the second half, Lane maintained the Tigers' tempo on the first drive with a 3-for-3 series for 64 yards and a 15-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Vance. In the second he also hit Cavangh for a touchdown and Vance for his second and final of the day.
On the season, Lane has completed 230 of his 365 attempts for 2,842 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions. For his career, he has the third highest passing yards in school history (6,393), the fourth highest number of completions (519), and the third highest number of touchdowns (25).
Lane and the Tigers will return to action this Saturday, November 12, as they travel to Ashland for the 117th edition of the Game against arch-rival Randolph-Macon. Kick-off is set for 1:00 pm.
