Tigers to Host ODAC-Rival Bridgewater on Homecoming Weekend

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-After kicking off the conference schedule with a 31-17 win over Catholic, Hampden-Sydney will try to make it 2-0 as it hosts the Eagles of Bridgewater College this weekend for Homecoming. Bridgewater, who has yet to open up ODAC play, is coming off of a 57-13 win over Apprentice.

Saturday will mark the 68th meeting between these two programs, with Hampden-Sydney winning the last four match ups. Despite the recent success, Hamdpen-Sydney fell to the Eagles, who were a national power in the last decade, eight straight times from 1999-2006.

Last week, the Tigers took a 31-17 decision over Catholic behind a big third quarter in which they outscored the Cardinals 24-0. Senior Kyle Vance (Onley, VA/Broadwater Academy) had another strong outing with 14 receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown. Senior quarterback Travis Lane (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) threw for 334 yards and a score while rushing for a touchdown as well. Defensively, Hampden-Sydney picked off four Cardinal passes. Charlie Shoemaker (Charlotte, NC/Myers Park) recorded two interceptions, while Sean Stewart (Alexandria, VA/Mount Vernon) returned his for a 40-yard touchdown.
