Lane Named ODAC Offensive Player of the Week

Senior quarterback Travis Lane (Richmond, VA/Mills Godwin) was named the ODAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Tigers to a 56-17 win over North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday. The Richmond native was nearly flawless in the win completing 28 of his 32 attempts while throwing for 389 yards and seven touchdowns. Lane's 87.5% completion percentage and seven touchdowns both rank second in ODAC history, and his seven scores tie a Hampden-Sydney record.

Lane got the offense going from the start, scoring on the third play of the game. He led the Tigers on two more scoring drives in the quarter with five- and nine-yard touchdown passes to sophomore Eric Gorsline (Virginia Beach, VA/Norfolk Academy). The second quarter brought another touchdown pass on a five-yard play to Kyle Vance (Onley, VA/Broadwater Academy). On the next drive, Lane led the Tigers 98 yards for the touchdown. Lane went 3-for-3 for 71 yards. The third quarter brought two more scores from Lane with a 25-yard pass to Vance and a one-play scoring drive via a 50-yard pass to Dallas Steelman (Walnut Cove, NC/Glenn). Lane capped his day with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Vance in the fourth quarter, the fourth time the duo connected on scoring plays.

Through two games, Lane is 48-for-62 with 662 yards, 10 touchdowns and one interception. He and the Tigers will return to action Saturday, September 17 as they host the Panthers of Ferrum College.
