Tigers Go 1-2 in California, Van Allen Throws Complete Game Shutout

CLAREMONT, CA-The Hampden-Sydney Tigers took a 1-2 mark in California splitting a double header to Rutgers-Newark and falling to Ithaca. The Tigers return home at 6-11 overall and will begin the heart of the ODAC schedule with a Saturday double header at Emory and Henry.

The Tigers fell 16-0 to Rutgers-Newark in the first game of the trip, but rallied to take a 2-0 victory in the second game behind a complete game shutout by Aaron Van Allen (Danville, VA/Tunstall). The junior right handed gave up just four hits and struck out five while walking just one.

Erick Herrmann (Glen Allen, VA/Deep Run) and Beau Flinchum (Ashland, VA/Hanover) each scored for the Tigers while Flinchum and Chris Ferrante (Jamestown, NC/Wesleyan Christian Academy) each batted in a run.

In the third game, the Tigers fell 24-3 to Ithaca. The statistics will be posted soon.
