Racquet Club

A Message from Coach Bates

The coaching staff - Bill Thompson and I - invites you to support Tiger tennis through the Hampden-Sydney Racquet Club. Whether you are a first-time donor or a long-time contributor, we appreciate your efforts on behalf of the team. Tennis has a rich tradition at the College and I feel we are more keenly focusing our efforts towards the future successes. There seems to be a rekindled excitement about the tennis program.

In my five years, our program has risen to a regional power, and in 2011 the Tigers earned a no. 14 regional ranking with an 11-4 record. We have had the last five ODAC Players of the Year and numerous All-ODAC selections. We certainly would not be where we are today without your support.

There are several ways in which you may support the tennis program. You may check our schedule online as the season approaches and attend a match or two. You may e-mail me at mbates@hsc.edu with names of talented players who will expand the talent pool and benefit from the Hampden-Sydney experience. Your financial support is also important. I am really interested in a broad-based support from former players as well as “friends” of Hampden-Sydney tennis.

Your donation to the Racquet Club goes directly to the support of the team, helping to provide uniforms and equipment as well as with travel expenses, maintenance and improvements to our facility. We ask that your donations not be seen as an alternative to your Annual Fund gift, which supports general College needs.

Hampden-Sydney provides an excellent experience for its students. Your support can make a lasting impact on the memories of many young men and help the Hampden-Sydney tennis program be second to none in the ODAC.

Go Tigers!

A Message from Coach Laux

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone who has supported our soccer program over the years. Hampden-Sydney soccer has a rich tradition that spans many generations.

The foudation of the Goal Club will have a tremendous impact on our soccer program. Our players and support staff will benefit greatly from the resources and support generated by this initiative. The Goal Club will also provide us the ability to remain competitive in our recruitment of the highest caliber student-athletes possible. A quick list of our objectives:

Create a foundation of sustainable support and excitement for the program
Give supporters a compelling reason to support the program
Continually improve the value and quality of our program
Raise funds necessary to help the program be successful
Use the club and overall program success to help with recruiting

We ask that your donation not be seen as an alternative to your Annual Fund gift, which supports the general College needs. All donations to the Goal Club go directly to the Hampden-Sydney soccer program.

We are coming off of an ODAC Championship appearance in the 2010 season, and we all look forward to next season. Come out and watch us compete.

Thank you so much for your loyalty and support.

Go Tigers!
