Racquet Club

Greetings from Hampden-Sydney Tennis!

As we start the 2016-2017 campaign, there is much excitement and anticipation for this upcoming season. We have our largest recruiting class in years. Our team has depth that we have not seen in a long time. We plan to be a contender for the ODAC title yearly, and we seek national recognition.

We are pleased to announce the establishment of the H-SC Racquet Club Advisory Board. This group is led by Worth Remick ’82 and Rick Godsey ’85. We have established both short and long-term goals for this program. None are achievable without alumni and parental support. The Advisory Board and I will be utilizing social media and monthly emails to keep everyone up to date on our progress and when we have specific support needs.

You can provide support in several different ways. Financial support is critical to sustain and improve our tennis infrastructure and we will be notifying alumni of projects and requirements throughout the year. We are always in need of scouting new talent. Even with a large incoming class, we cannot rest. We are hopeful, with the help of the Advisory Board, to develop a recruiting network throughout the country. With the progression from NTRP to UTR rating systems, we are looking for as many state ranked players with strong academic records. We are actively recruiting across the country. Our current roster is filled with members outside Virginia and as far away as Missouri.

Your donation to the Racquet Club goes directly to the support of the team, helping to provide uniforms and equipment as well as travel expenses, maintenance, and improvements to our facility. We continue to upgrade our tennis courts with new windscreens, signage, and resurfacing. Each year we will be looking to make improvements and asking for specific items. We are looking to schedule a spring trip. Last year we went to Hilton Head, this year we are going north, and in the future we will be looking at Florida, California, or Arizona trips. These trips will only be possible with your support.

Tennis is a sport for life. Thank you for your consideration for support of H-SC Tennis!

A Message from Coach Laux

I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone who has supported our soccer program over the years. Hampden-Sydney soccer has a rich tradition that spans many generations.

The foudation of the Goal Club will have a tremendous impact on our soccer program. Our players and support staff will benefit greatly from the resources and support generated by this initiative. The Goal Club will also provide us the ability to remain competitive in our recruitment of the highest caliber student-athletes possible. A quick list of our objectives:

Create a foundation of sustainable support and excitement for the program
Give supporters a compelling reason to support the program
Continually improve the value and quality of our program
Raise funds necessary to help the program be successful
Use the club and overall program success to help with recruiting

We ask that your donation not be seen as an alternative to your Annual Fund gift, which supports the general College needs. All donations to the Goal Club go directly to the Hampden-Sydney soccer program.

We are coming off of an ODAC Championship appearance in the 2010 season, and we all look forward to next season. Come out and watch us compete.

Thank you so much for your loyalty and support.

Go Tigers!
